The first ice cream cone of the summer.

We have hit 80 degrees a few times in the last week. The kids talked me into buying peppermint ice cream today at Braums. We had the first ice cream cones of the summer and this was Adam's first ice cream cone ever. Here we are after dinner eating our treats.

Curtains

So, for those of you who have been to my house may have noticed that I am not a big decorator. I don't have any talent for it. Mike picks the colors of our paint, tile, and such. The change is enough excitement for me, I can't visualize how things will go somewhere else. I was excited when he brought home curtains last week for the front room. A few years ago my sister and a friend hung up the brass rubbings from my Dad's mission in London before I had an open house. They put our antique scale up and it looked so nice and I didn't even realize what I had been missing. He found these beautiful chocolate brown curtains and silver curtain rods that compliment the rubbings and the couches really well. It just finishes off the room. The dark brown shelves on the opposite wall look better as well. Mike was on a roll and painted in the den when he found a nice paint on clearance. He also found some curtains for the den, but I will post pictures of that when we replace the back door.

Yummy Pancakes

I love wheat pancakes. My Aunt Kay gave me this recipe which I tried on Sunday. It is great because I don't have to grind the wheat before.

1 c wheat kernels, washed
1 1/2 c buttermilk
1 egg
1/3 c vegetable oil
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 Tbsp sugar

Wash wheat; drain off water and place in blender. Add milk and blend on highest speed 3 to 5 minutes. Add egg, oil, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Blend 1 to 2 minutes linger. Pour from blender onto hot griddle in puddles about 3 inches in diameter. Bake until bottom is nicely browned. Turn with spatula and brown other side. Serve with syrup and fruit.

Time Out Corner

Funny story: When I put Greta in a time out for a minor infraction, I send her to the corner to count sets of 10. This last week, she pulled Adam's hair. I sent her to the corner to count 5 sets of 10. She went and counted while Adam watched with interest, he wasn't really hurt. After she was done she told Adam she was sorry and gave him a hug. Adam then walked over to the corner, put his nose into and said 1,2,3,4. He looked at me expectantly. I started laughing and told Greta that Adam thought something cool was in the corner and he was checking it out.
